Sarah Davis is a film camera technician and photographer based in the New England area, specializing in the repair and overhaul of mechanical film cameras. She has been repairing cameras since 2018 and began offering commercial repair services in 2021.
Her work focuses primarily on Twin Lens reflex cameras such as Rolleiflex and Yashica models, as well as Nikon SLR systems. She has developed particular experience with leaf shutter mechanisms and mechanical transport systems, studying under factory trained technicians and experienced camera repair specialists.
In February 2026, Sarah traveled to San Diego to train with Jim Holman of ICT Camera, where she received hands-on instruction in Nikon film SLR repair, focal plane shutter diagnostics, and mechanical calibration techniques. Her training also includes mentorship from other veteran technicians in the field, with continued study in leaf shutter service and TLR repair.
Sarah began working in photography in 2015. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where her photography was published in student publication. In addition to repair work, she has worked in professional photography environments including weddings, engagement and maternity, real estate, concerts and performances, youth sports and picture day, commissioned landscapes, and studio work.
Today she operates independently out of Franklin, Massachusetts, providing service for photographers, collectors and dealers, working professionals, and film labs who rely on mechanical film cameras. Her approach emphasizes careful mechanical overhaul, accurate shutter timing, and preserving cameras so they can continue working reliably for decades.
